Director Membership Retention

The Director of Retention focuses on improving member retention through surveys and data analysis, providing insights to the board and directors. This role is essential for identifying and addressing factors affecting member retention, enhancing overall satisfaction and engagement. Director will have Microsoft Teams email address.

Education Team Opportunities

Study Group Instructor

The PMI Hampton Roads (PMIHR) Study Group Instructor is responsible for leading and facilitating scheduled certification study groups and professional development learning cohorts. This includes welcoming new participants, providing orientation to the study program, and helping learners navigate available resources and study materials. Instructors may support a variety of PMI certifications and professional development programs, including PMP®, CAPM®, PMI-ACP®, PMI-CP™, CPMAI, and other emerging credentials aligned with the needs of the chapter membership.

The instructor will provide study materials, recommended resources, and guidance on obtaining current reference materials, including PMI publications and certification-specific content. Most importantly, the instructor serves as a mentor, facilitator, and advocate for learner success by creating an engaging and supportive learning environment.

8 - 10 hours a month (2 study sessions per month of 1 hour per, 2 hours prep/comms per study group)

Marketing Team Opportunities

Director Sponsorship

The Director of Sponsorship supports the Vice President of Marketing in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships that strengthen the PMI Hampton Roads Chapter and enhance member value. This role is responsible for identifying sponsorship opportunities, cultivating sponsor relationships, coordinating sponsorship agreements, and ensuring sponsors receive exceptional service and recognition throughout their partnership with the Chapter

Community Impact Challenge Volunteer Opportunities

Initiative Overview

The PMI Hampton Roads Community Impact Challenge is a team-based volunteer program designed to develop project management skills while creating measurable benefits within the Hampton Roads community.
Participants work in small teams to identify a community need, develop a project proposal, obtain approval, and execute their project using project management best practices. Throughout the challenge, teams apply core PMI principles including project chartering, scheduling, stakeholder engagement, risk management, communications, and project execution.
The program culminates with the winning team being recognized during the PMI Hampton Roads Professional Development Conference (PDC).
As a pilot initiative, the Community Impact Challenge is intentionally designed as a small-scale program with lessons learned captured to support future growth.

Community Impact Challenge Mentor

Community Impact Challenge Mentors provide guidance and encouragement to one participant team throughout the duration of the challenge. Acting as coaches rather than project managers, mentors help teams apply project management principles while allowing participants to make their own decisions and lead their projects.
Mentors serve as trusted advisors by sharing professional experience, encouraging critical thinking, and helping teams overcome obstacles while maintaining ownership of their work.

Community Impact Challenge Judge

Community Impact Challenge Judges evaluate completed projects using the official judging framework to recognize outstanding project management practices, innovation, community impact, and overall project success.
Judges provide an objective, fair, and professional assessment of each team's accomplishments and help determine the recipients of Community Impact Challenge recognition.
