February Newsletter 2023 Print

Welcome

There is no better time than in the month of love to pay it forward and show kindness. Project managers use kindness and influence to get others to accomplish tasks. Here are a few things that you can do to be kind to others today and every day:

  • Compliment others
  • Hold the door open for someone
  • Let someone in line after you go before you
  • Smile at everyone you see
  • Bring a box of doughnuts to work
  • Write a Linkedin recommendation for someone

Remember, kindness is a choice. Interested in learning about kindness in the workplace, if so watch this Center for Creative Leadership webinar: Kindness in the Workplace

PMIHR Highlights

January 30th: IIL Team Building and Motivation Webinar with Keith Wilson - No matter what role we are in there are times that we must work on a team or lead a team, so team building and motivation skills are vital. Keith shared characteristics of high-performing teams with the use of his PERFORM acronym - Purpose and values, Empowerment, Relationship and Communication, Flexibility, Optimal performance, Recognition and appreciation, and Morale. He also discussed the stages of Tuckman's ladder and the strategic planning pyramid. If you attended and completed a brief survey, IIL will provide you with a FREE Virtual Agile Teams, on-demand, 2-day workshop!

February 1st: Chapter Meeting at Oozlefinch Craft Brewery with owners Russ and Rebekah - This duo discussed how they keep their staff engaged during the pandemic and the traits that they look for in their staff. Two of the most important characteristics that Oozlefinch values are being a team player - not someone that is only out for themselves and someone with integrity. They accredit their employee retention to committing to the team's needs before their own and giving recognition for good work. Praises and raises! During his speech, Russ echoed that the business is successful because of its team so giving raises when the business can sustain itself and offering beer certification/training let employees know that their development and their families are important.

Oozlefinch has some creative beers, an impressive food truck rotation, and a great pet-friendly environment. For more information about Oozlefinch, please visit https://oozlefinchbeers.com
