Cynthia O'Brien

Ms. Cynthia O’Brien, a Principal at Booz Allen Hamilton, will present “Project Management: Success Through Innovation and Inclusion.”  A leader in project innovation, Booz Allen wins awards annually for its diversity and inclusion programs.   Booz Allen’s expertise is based on the fact that the company itself was its first innovation client, and the firm has first-hand knowledge that innovation is a discipline as much as a social and cultural process.  Ms. O’Brien will highlight Booz Allen’s methods for successful innovation, including how a diverse and inclusive culture has been a significant driver of project success.

Speaker Bio: Cynthia O’Brien is a Booz Allen Hamilton Strategy Consulting Principal with over 22 years of experience driving economic analysis, financial management and project controls business within DoD and commercial industry.  She is currently managing financial management, big data analytics and data science projects for multiple Department of Defense clients.  In her role, she focuses on using analytics to make Defense programs substantially more efficient and effective by optimizing key business processes.  She has also led numerous large and complex DoD projects for Booz Allen.  Ms. O’Brien received her Masters of Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.  She also earned a double Bachelor of Economics and Political Science from Bryn Mawr College.  She is Project Management Professional (PMP) and is active in the DC Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI).  She is also a Certified Professional Innovator: Practitioner Level – Design Thinking, a Certified Human Capital Strategist, and a Certified Lean Agile Scrum Master.

Join us for an evening of learning, networking and socializing on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018.  Register before 27 April at 8:00 PM to avoid a $10 late registration fee.

Parking:  Use the parking garage off Market Street, decks 3 and above to avoid a fee, and take elevator to The Westin lobby on the ground floor. 

·  Registration and the cash bar opens at 5:30 PM with time to network with colleagues and learn about one another in our regional professional organization.

 ·  A plated dinner will begin between 6:15 and 6:30 PM with some brief chapter business and introductions. Menu: chicken entre'e, starch and vegetable, salad, bread and dessert.  Coffee, tea and water.

***Vegetarian and special meals due to dietary restrictions will be available upon request by noting your preference in the Special Instructions and Comments block while registering.  These meals cannot be guaranteed if member or guest does not register at least one week prior to the meeting.*** 

 ·  At approximately 7 PM we will turn our focus to the featured presentation.

 

 

PARKING: Free parking on the 2nd deck and above in the parking garage and in the parking lot east of the movie theater.  The main entrance to the conference center is on Mariners Row across the street from the Paragon City Center 12 movie theater.  You can either exit the parking garage through the hotel to the conference center, but it's a long, winding walk and can be confusing.  Or, exit the parking garage on the southwest corner to Mariners Row and walk west to the main entrance of the conference center.  You can also park in the open parking lot to the east of the movie theater. 

PDUs Available: 

1 Category A PDU for Certified PMP, PgMP, PMI-RMP or PMI-SP, which the chapter will log for you.  Up to 1.5 PDUs for networking prior to the start of the meeting that you log yourself.  Up to 1.5 PDUs if you volunteer to help with registration that you also log yourself.
