Summer, Networking and Running
What a summer so far. Last weekend it was 105 degrees (both days!). For people reading this from the west coast, that’s not normal for us. When it’s that hot here in the southeast, things actually melt, including humans. Coincidently, it just so happens that I am training for my first ½ Marathon. That’s where you run 13.1 miles with a million other people for no particular reason (to quote Forrest Gump). I think it would make more sense if someone or something was chasing you. I purchased all of the high tech gear. Things with names like Hydro Belt, Halo Headband, and lots of things to eat that start with words like “energy”, "power" and "Zone". I think you gotta have all this stuff if you’re really serious. So far I am up to 9.2345 miles as my personal best and that was on a 95 degree day. Not bad huh? Truth is it almost killed me. At mile 9.2345 my legs just quit working. My arms were still going back and forth, but nothing from the legs. I then had to walk/crawl another 3 miles back to where I parked the car. A kind of personal "walk of shame".
